Wedding planning is stressful. (Understatement of the year, I know.) There are so many things to budget for, to plan, and to choose. And while the big details—like the dress, the flowers, and the venue—get the most attention, it’s often the smaller details that your guests will remember most.
One of those “smaller” details is the wedding favors. Not all brides choose to have favors, which is completely understandable. Weddings are expensive enough without them! But for those brides who want to give little gifts to their guests to thank them for coming, I’ve pulled together this list of 15 DIY wedding favors that your guests are sure to appreciate.
Of course, because these are DIY favors, they’re customizable! This means that not only can you tailor them exactly to your wedding’s colors or theme, but it also means that they’re also great for non-wedding events! Birthday party favors, bachelorette favors, bridal shower favors, baby shower favors, you name it! You can also turn them into stocking stuffers, or random acts of handmade/just-because gifts!

15 DIY Wedding Favors Your Guests Will Adore
01. Rose Hip Soap
Everyone at your wedding uses soap (hopefully, anyway!) so you can’t go wrong with these beautiful soaps as favors. Cut them into small bars and wrap them with some tissue paper. Maybe make a little custom sticker with your wedding date to seal up the tissue paper! And if you’re not a fan of rose hips, there are tons of other soap recipes to discover online. Maybe try making some soap with your wedding colors, or half with your favorite scent and half with your partner’s.
02. Felt Succulents
These are adorable. Giving away live plants as a favor can be tough because not everyone has the capacity to care for them. They, and you, might feel like the money spent on them was wasted. But everyone can take care of fake plants! And these DIY “felt succulents” are no exception. I want to make a bunch for me, never mind for wedding favors!
03. Lip Balm Tins
While not everyone uses lip balm, enough people do that this favor could still be a great option for your wedding. Make some colorless, moisturizing lip balm and put it in little metal tins. It’s gender-neutral and incredibly practical.
04. Mini Coffee Jars
Who doesn’t like coffee? (Okay, I know those people exist, but come on.) These little coffee jars are a great little treat. Find a local blend of beans, or find a company that roasts them and can do a custom blend just for your wedding. Why not tie a little chocolate spoon to the top, or a stick of cinnamon?
05. Apple Butter Jar DIY Wedding Favors
Apple butter is a delicious option for wedding favors. Guests are going to love it! Of course, you’re not stuck with just apple butter. Why not try jams, jellies, or spreads like a homemade caramel sauce? Not only will your guests be thrilled, but you’re guaranteed to hear from them again after the wedding when they call you to get the recipe!
06. Map Magnets
How cute are these magnets? Seriously. Make a set for your guests using maps from places you and your partner have traveled–or the places you hope to travel! These make great wedding favors because they’re versatile; people don’t necessarily want a favor that has your name or face on it. This has neither!
07. Herbal Lotion Bars
If you’re doing anything strenuous–or just a lot of sitting!– at your wedding, why not make up a batch of these lovely herbal lotion bars for your favors? People are sure to appreciate the thought you’ve put into them, and they’re great for encouraging self-care!
08. Flavored Finishing Salts
I’m a hardcore salt addict and if you are too this much be an awesome idea for your DIY wedding favors! These flavored finishing salts are something your guests will use long after your wedding, thinking about you every time they do! You can make them to your own tastes, or go for a variety of options. You can make a wedding-themed set, or give each guest one larger jar! There are so many options!
09. Mason Jar Cocktails
For those adult-only weddings where you know your guests like to indulge a little, mason jar cocktail sets are so much fun. You can make them all the same, or do a variety and let guests choose the one they want! Don’t try these at kid-friendly weddings though!
10. Infused Sugar
Similar to the infused salt, this infused sugar is such to be a hit with your guests. You can add herbs, vanilla beans, citrus peels… whatever you think your guests would love! Maybe include a little card with suggestions on what they could use the sugar for–like vanilla sugar mixed into coffee, or a cinnamon-infused sugar on toast.
11. Custom Tea Blend
Maybe your guest list isn’t made up of coffee drinkers. Or maybe you and your partner are just bigger fans of tea. Custom tea blends are a meaningful, well-received wedding favor. If you have a winter wedding, hot tea is always a great idea. For a summer wedding, make a blend that is best served over ice. Maybe even make up a batch for the wedding so everyone gets to taste the lovely blend they’re taking home with them!
12. Mocha Blends
All this talk about coffee and tea brings up another awesome possibility–instant mocha mixes! It’s pretty straightforward to make. Instant coffee, hot chocolate powder, and then whatever other additives, like sugar or marshmallows, you want! Put them in plastic icing bags, or glass mason jars. Whichever way you go, your guests will be thrilled to receive such a thoughtful favor.
13. Pink Lemonade Sugar Scrub
This is another self-care classic that you really can’t go wrong with. Sugar scrubs are incredibly easy to make, and even easier to use. These are especially awesome for summer or beach weddings when everyone will be wearing shorts, dresses, and other outfits that show off a lot of skin. The idea of a thorough exfoliation might be quite appealing! Plus, pink lemonade-themed anything is adorable! Of course, you’re not limited to this particular scent. Get creative and whip up some sugar scrub in your wedding colors or favorite smells!
14. Mini Candles
Candles are classic, and for good reason. Most people like candles, and they come in a wide variety of colors and scents. All the more so when you make them yourself! This lavender rosemary candle is dreamy and smells delicious. Definitely a great choice for your wedding favors!
15. Seed Packet Wedding Favors
If your wedding is outdoors, or you are a lover of plants and nature, seed packets would be so fitting. Encourage your guests to sprinkle their seeds in boring, dreary places. If at all possible, make sure that your seeds are native to the area, and don’t encourage the sprinkling of seeds of any invasive species!
Which of these wedding favor ideas do you like best?
As I mentioned earlier, these are awesome for events well beyond just weddings! If you need favors for any type of gathering, there might be something on this list that’ll suit your needs!
