25 Easy Halloween Crafts and DIYs to Try This Fall
01. Halloween Treat Bags
There’s enough plastic at Halloween–create these adorable little treat bags to give out instead! They’re great for giving out Halloween treats to students, classmates, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and all the others in your life who deserve some Halloween treats. If you have enough time and fabric, you can make treat bags for the neighborhood kids too!
02. Shrinky Dink & Resin Earrings
This method of earring making is tons of fun. You can make any images you want, as long as you can trace them. (But don’t trace copyright protected images and sell them!) You’re not stuck with earrings, either! Use this method to make bracelet charms, pendants, pins, keychains and more! You can even turn them into buttons if you make two little holes in the middle of your design. Give it a try!
03. Candy Corn Pompom Wreath
This wreath is cute, simple, and a family-friendly craft that will look great on any door. Decorate the doors in your house, a classroom door, an office door, or any other door you can think of! It doesn’t require many materials, and no specialized equipment or professional skills. This is a great DIY that you can do in an afternoon.
04. Halloween Terrarium
I love little terrariums, particularly with cute miniatures placed inside. This Halloween terrarium can be as cute or spooky as you want. You can make little graveyards, a haunted house, or an abandoned warehouse. Look for little garden figurines (August is a great time to check craft stores like Michaels for their clearance garden stock!) or make some of your own with polymer clay. These little terrariums are great decor for all around the house, classroom or office.
05. Halloween Trick-or-Treat Bag
While there’s nothing wrong with the classic pillowcase to collect all that Halloween candy in, a custom trick-or-treat bag won’t go unloved. Make it with bright, fun fabrics or spooky prints. And if the kids using these bags are going to be trick-or-treating outside in the dark, add some reflective material to the straps or along the bottom to help keep them safe. You can even add little pockets for carrying whatever extras they might want to bring along.
06. Spooky Cottage Felt Ornament
This little felt cottage is spooky cute–my favorite type of Halloween decor. It’s a fairly simple pattern to follow and doesn’t require much beyond felt, embroidery thread, and some needles. It doesn’t take long to come together, and you can make a bunch to give away. Plus sosaecaetano (the maker of this pattern) has tons of other patterns in their Etsy store, so you aren’t limited to just this one!
07. Crochet Pumpkin Earrings
If you know how to crochet, this little earring project is a great time-killer. Make a bunch of tiny pumpkin pendants and hang them on earring hooks–or whatever else you can think of! They’d also be great on necklaces, bracelets, or to leave in random places to surprise and delight those that find them. (I’m personally a big fan of all things tiny.) And if you don’t know how to crochet, this might be exactly the motivation you need to learn!
08. Not-so-Spooky Felt Ornaments
More felt ornaments? Yes, please! These gorgeous little Halloween felt projects are ridiculously cute. They’re simple to make, but well worth the effort. You can string them on a larger piece of ribbon or rope and make a Halloween ornament banner. Or hand them out in trick-or-treat bags, to the students in your class, or leave them for other people to find. These felt ornaments don’t require any specialized equipment or skill sets; even beginners to hand sewing can make something adorable!
09. Paper Spiderwebs
This is a super simple craft you can make with the kids in your life. All you need is paper and scissors to make these delicate paper spider webs. They’re very similar to the paper snowflakes you’ve made in the past. Decorate these paper webs with spiders crafted out of pipe-cleaners, beads, or clay. Or opt for the plastic spiders you can pick up at almost any dollar store.
10. No Sew Crochet Vampire
This is another great project for fans of crochet. This tiny vampire makes a great pocket friend or desk pet. The safety eyes that the pattern calls for are quite secure, but if you intend to give this little vampire to a young child you might want to crochet or knot some eyes instead of using the plastic ones.
11. Floral Bats Hand Embroidery
This detailed embroidery pattern is ideal for someone who already has some experience with hand embroidery. Or, a very ambitious beginner who loves to learn on the go. The details in this pattern are what makes it such a stunning project, and it would look great on your wall, on a desk, or just about anywhere you want some Halloween vibes.
12. Sam from Halloween Crochet Doll
This Sam doll is the perfect project for fans of spooky movies and horror movies. The details on this doll are phenomenal, and it would make great decor–or a great gift! And you’re not limited to Halloween, you can gift this to a horror movie fan any time of the year!
13. Halloween Spiderweb Hoop Earrings
If you like taking a little Halloween spirit with you everywhere you go, these earrings are a great DIY project for you! Spiders and spiderwebs are a Halloween staple, and this craft project is both fun and simple. Make a pair for yourself, and your bestie!
14. Halloween Amigurumi Mini Candy Corn Toy
This is one of those projects that makes me wish I knew how to crochet. (It’s definitely time to learn, I guess!) These mini candy corn Amigurumi figures are adorable. Make a collection for yourself, keep them in a bowl at the office, or hand them out to trick-or-treaters! Know a kid (or an adult, I’m not judging) who can’t have sugar? This is a great alternative!
15. Felt Raven (Poe-Inspired)
If you love birds, Poe, and all things spooky, this felt raven is the project for you! Make a flock of them and decorate your home or office with these hauntingly beautiful little birds. This is one of my favorite projects on this list of easy Halloween crafts! I bet it’ll be yours too!
16. Mystical Witches Shadowbox
This is an awesome project for you Cricut owners out there! I love the look of shadowbox art, and this is a perfect project for the fall. There are tons of shadowbox project files on Etsy, but you can also find a huge variety on Creative Fabrica.
17. Clay Cauldron Earrings
This is a project I want to tackle this year. I love all things polymer clay and these would be so much fun to make. They’re simple, too, which is another point in its favor. If you love the witchy DIYs, why not give these earrings a try?
18. Crochet Pumpkins
This is a great project for you fans of crochet. These little pumpkins are adorable, and come together fairly easily. They make great fall decor, even if you don’t do a lot of Halloween decorating. Make them in a variety of colors, or stick to the classic orange.
19. Beaded Pumpkin Earrings
Here are some more pumpkins, because you can’t have Halloween without pumpkins! These pretty, delicate earrings are another great addition to your jewelry box. Make a pair or two of these and wear them with Halloween pride.
20. Cheesecloth Ghost Earrings
Because you can never have too many earrings, here’s another earring project for you to try! These little ghosts are simple to create but you’d never know it by looking at them! They’re ridiculously cute and would make excellent gifts or party favors.
21. Candy Corn Felt Cookie Ornament
I love cute little felt projects and this is no exception. And while I dislike actual candy corn, I love all the cute craft projects that they inspire. These would make great little ornaments–or you can string them together to create a candy corn garland for your office, classroom, or any other room you can think of!
22. Copycat Vintage Halloween Skirt
If you’re looking for a simple project that you can wear to show off your Halloween spirit, this vintage skirt might be just the thing. And if you don’t want to make a whole skirt, go pick up something at the thrift store and add the pumpkin cutouts to that!
23. Anatomically Correct Polymer Clay Heart
This is so delightfully creepy. While I’m not sure I’d want to wear around an anatomically correct clay heart, I know lots of people who would. Make these little hearts as pendants, or put them in jars with resin so it looks like you have little hearts on display! It would be great for a haunted house or, if you make the hearts small enough, a haunted doll house!
24. Paper Mache Pumpkins
This project makes me feel like a kid again–I loved making paper mache art when I was in elementary school. This pumpkin looks much better than anything I made back then, though. I’m going to have to give this project a try!
25. Halloween Rug Punch Coasters
These coasters are so cute! While you do need some special equipment to make them, you can get it all in a kit so you’re ready to make coasters to your heart’s content. This particular project kit is available on Etsy and is one of my favorite finds recently!
