Many of the ideas below include links to free tutorials, but some of them may take you to websites like Etsy where the patterns or tutorials are for sale. If you don’t want to buy a pattern, just google the gift idea—there’s sure to be a comparable, and free, pattern or tutorial out there somewhere! If not, get creative and see if you can recreate it with skills you already have or patterns you already own!
Not sure where to start? Check out my post, Choosing the Perfect Handmade Gift: A quick and easy guide to gift-giving.
Gift #1: A Quillow
This gift is both cute and practical. It’s a quilt that folds up into a pillow! I remember my mom actually made a bunch of these when I was young to gift to loved ones—her mom included! They were a huge hit. Try using fabrics with patterns, colors, or characters your mom loves. Is she always cold? Back your blanket with a warm fabric like fleece. Does she love soft things? (My mom loves soft blankets.) Use a soft fabric like Minky. Have fun picking your fabrics!

Gift #2: Toner Foil Wall Art
If your mom loves to hang art or has mentioned lately that she’s looking for something to add a little something to one of her walls, consider making her a piece of toner foil wall art. It’s a perfect gift! You’ll need access to a laser printer, a laminator, and toner foil (which you can get on Amazon).

Gift #3: Polymer Clay Earrings
Does your mom wear jewelry? Instead of picking out something at the store that hundreds of others will have, why don’t you make something in her favorite colors/style? Polymer clay is relatively easy to work with, and you don’t need many supplies to get started.

Gift #4: Family Holiday Calendar
Is your mom big on celebrating family and holidays? This holiday calendar might be a perfect gift for her; she’ll look forward to adding new birthdays, anniversaries, and other events to the calendar as her family grows.

Gift #5: Coffee Body Scrub
Sometimes mom needs a little pampering. Self-care items can be a great way to encourage that! There are so many self-care items that can be made from supplies you can find at your local grocery store—like this coffee body scrub.

Gift #6: Essential Oils Pouch
Does your mom love essential oils? Does she take some with her wherever she goes? If so, she’d probably appreciate a gorgeous handmade essential oils pouch to help her keep them safe and organized. Use fabrics with patterns that she’d love so it reflects her style.

Gift #7: Clay Trinket Dish
Does your mom have a lot of rings or other things she leaves lying all over the place? Gift her a dedicated spot for all her little things to go! It’ll help her keep from losing important jewelry and trinkets, all while adding a little extra style to the room.

Gift #8: Fabric Book Cover
If mom is a reader, this fabric book cover is definitely going to be appreciated. It’ll help keep her books safe when she takes them on the go. Say goodbye to torn or bent covers! Plus, it adds a little discretion if your mom is a fan of those spicy reads but doesn’t want everyone at the office to know what she’s reading!

Gift #9: Reuseable Shopping Bags
There’s no better way to tell mom she deserves a shopping spree than to gift her cute and colorful reusable shopping bags! Perfect for those moms concerned about the environment, or the moms who just always need a bag on hand. Make it extra environmentally friendly by repurposing old fabric like clothes or blankets! (Make sure they’re clean, of course!)

Gift #10: Beaded Blanket Holder
If your mom is always cold and has an assortment of blankets that are always strewn everywhere, why not make her a beaded blanket holder for her wall? It’s cute, practical, and doesn’t take a lot of supplies or specialized skills! Plus you can go with any color palette you want, which means you can make it specific to your mom’s aesthetic!
